FAQ’s

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a scientifically verified and effective technique whereby the critical faculties of the participant’s dominant thinking brain are bypassed while selective acceptable ideas, concepts and thoughts are introduced via the participant’s predominant intuitive mind: the realm of imagination, intuition and creativity.

Hypnosis relies on the duality of directed focused attention and associated effortless concentration with verbal commands in order to heighten ones suggestibility such that the participant readily, willingly and spontaneously engages in, as requested to do so, the unconscious act of performing particular tasks.

Hypnosis is the releasing, surrendering and letting go of mental attachments. It is a freeing experience and allows one to be open to suggestions. Simply put, "Hypnosis is an orchestrated shift from conscious to unconscious awareness." In short: Heal Your Predicament Naturally Optimizing Sound Imagined Suggestions

Why does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works because conclusions reached by ones prefrontal neocortex (the place where decision making takes place) are redirected. The "intellectual gatekeeper" sustains and maintains ones status quo (present way of thinking) by sorting, analyzing and rejecting incoming data in order to continually support ones expectations (self fulfilling prophecies). When the brain's  "thinking part" is circumvented, the "non-thinking part" is accessible. Thus, in this receptive condition, incoming suggestions can be directly received like a sponge and instant changes (at the mental level) occur. These new thoughts then lead to new behaviors.

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a facilitator guided process of learning how to use trance and/or hypnosis for helping oneself and/or assisting others help themselves. In Doc Regal's hypnotherapy sessions and training seminars, participants become familiar with the Arts of Self Hypnosis (Trance Work), Traditional Hypnosis (Direct Work) and Metaphysical Hypnotherapy (Source Work).

Isn't working with Trance and Hypnosis the same thing?
Hypnosis work can include Trance, however Trance is not a prerequisite for Hypnosis to occur. Trance work, also known as Transformational or Traditional Hypnotherapy is a gradual process and requires a series of sessions to be most effective. This method primarily utilizes non-specific focusing techniques, broad generalizations and light (Alpha: semi-conscious) to medium (Theta: subconscious) dissociated states to create indefinite change, until the source of ones presenting issue is fully addressed. Thereafter, reinforcement programs are installed to maintain lasting results. Hypnosis, also known as Somnambulism, is a technique that works immediately by overwriting, i.e. writing new thoughts over preexisting conditions. It performs on a deeper level (Delta: unconscious) as an instantaneous process that requires only one session for a complete shift to occur. This method utilizes particular focusing techniques, precise specifications, and deep associated states to create lasting change.

Is Hypnosis safe?
Yes, Hypnosis is sound, safe and secure. You are subtly aware of your surroundings when in a hypnotic state. If an emergency were to arise while hypnotized you would be able to immediately alert yourself and take whatever action is needed to handle the situation and keep yourself protected.

What are the most common Hypnosis Myths?
Myth 1. Only weak-minded people can be hypnotized. Nearly everyone is hypnotizable. We are born with the ability to turn off the outside world and go within. In fact, daily we experience a variety of hypnotic states each time we engage our imagination, our emotions or place our attention on subjective experiences. Other examples include being absorbed by a film, getting engrossed in a book or being mesmerized by an attractive person’s glance.

Myth 2. If you can hear the Hypnotist, you were not hypnotized. A common misconception equates the state of Hypnosis with sleep. While the level of awareness of your surroundings may shift to some degree, you will still be cognizant of the Hypnotist’s presence and voice.

Myth 3. You can remain permanently stuck in Hypnosis. Although many people enjoy deep hypnotic states so much that they may never want their session to finish, the induced euphoria does not last indefinitely. In fact, it is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis because you are awake, aware and in control the whole time. Your delight and excitement continues as long as you allow it to, yet by itself it is not self-perpetuating. Without any ongoing suggestions from the Hypnotist, the hypnotic state will naturally end.

Myth 4. Hypnotists have complete power over you when you are hypnotized.
Hypnosis requires continuous rapport with the Hypnotist. You cannot be hypnotized by a practitioner against your will or without your consent. You are always in control and will neither reveal secrets nor do anything that you normally would not do. Hypnotists have only as much power over you as you give them. It is always up to you whether you want to accept or reject the ideas or statements offered.

What if I do not think I can be hypnotized?
Anxiety about the unknown, fear of not getting it right and stress overload can keep you from being calm enough to get to your natural trance state. A willingness to try Hypnosis, along with trust in your Hypnotherapy Practitioner, will help you to unwind and rediscover the healing effects of this natural form of relaxation.

How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnotists serve to guide, direct and lead their participants into Hypnosis. Only by consent can a Hypnotist ever alter an individual’s state of consciousness. With the participant’s permission the Hypnotist does this by narrowing his  (or her) field of awareness using heightened suggestibility, selective wakefulness and restricted attentiveness.

"If psychotherapy was to really be useful, it would have to be used along with hypnosis." ~Sigmund Freud

Émile Coué

What does Hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis feels just like the moment when you go to bed at night and you can still hear sounds around you just before you fall asleep. It is a very pleasant, wonderful and amazing experience. Participants routinely confirm that they feel comfortable, carefree and at ease.

Can anyone be hypnotized?
Everyone who is willing to be hypnotized can be hypnotized as long as they are open to being directed, willing to instantly follow instructions and trusting to do exactly as the Hypnotherapy Practitioner says without judging, analyzing or over evaluating the process.

How will I know if I am hypnotized?
Most people have misconceptions of what Hypnosis is. They think that they have to be zonked out and unconscious in order to be hypnotized, however that is not the case. Hypnotherapy is not possible when you are asleep. You will be very alert and more awake when you are in a state of Hypnosis, able to hear, follow and obey the suggestions of the Hypnotherapy Practitioner.

So what actually happens when I am hypnotized?
Your eyes will close. Your muscles will relax, and your breathing will slow down. At first, you will experience a light to moderate trance. And as you enter into a deeper state of Hypnosis, you will feel a greater sense of peace, tranquility and calmness. It is wonderful, magnificent and truly beyond words.
