FAQ’s

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a scientifically verified and effective technique whereby the critical faculties of the participant’s dominant thinking brain are bypassed while selective acceptable ideas, concepts and thoughts are introduced via the participant’s predominant intuitive mind.

Is Hypnosis safe?
You are subtly aware of your surroundings when in a hypnotic state. If an emergency were to arise while hypnotized you would be able to immediately alert yourself and take whatever action is needed to handle the situation and keep yourself safe.

What are the most common Hypnosis Myths?
Myth 1. Only weak-minded people can be hypnotized. Nearly everyone is hypnotizable. We are born with the ability to turn off the outside world and go within. In fact, daily we experience some form of a trance-like hypnotic state each time we engage our imagination, our emotions or place our attention on subjective experiences. Examples include being absorbed by a film, getting engrossed in a book or being mesmerized by an attractive person’s glance.

Myth 2. If you can hear the Hypnotist, you were not hypnotized. A common misconception equates the state of Hypnosis with sleep. While the level of awareness of your surroundings may shift to some degree, you will still be cognizant of the Hypnotist’s presence and voice.

Myth 3. You can remain permanently stuck in Hypnosis. Although many people enjoy deep trance so much that they may never want their session to finish, the induced hypnotic state does not last indefinitely. Your hypnotic trance will continue as long as you allow it to, yet by itself it is not self-perpetuating. The hypnotic state will automatically end without any ongoing suggestions from the Hypnotist.

Myth 4. Hypnotists have complete power over you when you are hypnotized. You cannot be hypnotized against your will or without your consent. You are always in control and will neither reveal secrets nor do anything that you normally would not do. Hypnotists have only as much power over you as you give them. It is always up to you whether you want to accept or reject the ideas or statements offered. "All Hypnosis is Self Hypnosis."

What if I do not think I can be hypnotized?
Anxiety about the unknown, fear of not getting it right and stress overload can keep you from being calm enough to get to your natural trance state. A willingness to try Hypnosis, along with trust in your Hypnotherapist, will help you to unwind and rediscover the healing effects of this natural form of relaxation.

How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnotists serve to guide, direct and lead their participants into Hypnosis. Only by consent can a Hypnotist ever alter an individual’s state of consciousness. With the participant’s permission the Hypnotist does this by narrowing his  (or her) field of awareness using heightened suggestibility, selective wakefulness and restricted attentiveness.

"If psychotherapy was to really be useful, it would have to be used along with hypnosis." ~Sigmund Freud

What are the effects of Hypnosis?
An individual who is receptive to Hypnosis can experience alterations in perception, sensation, emotion, thought or behavior.

How is Hypnosis induced?
There are several methods that are commonly used. Eye fixation involves gazing at a fixed point. Progressive relaxation includes imagery and guided meditation. Mental confusion methods are employed to bewilder overactive minds. Misdirection techniques involve linking ones imagination with suggestions. With the element of surprise one can shock the nervous system into a trancelike state. An individual, by losing equilibrium, can also be gently rocked into Hypnosis.

How does Hypnotherapy work for a Client?
A Hypnotherapist uses Hypnosis to redirect the Client's focus utilizing various techniques to deepen the hypnotic state to access the Client's subconscious realm in order to manifest a specific agreed upon behavioral change or outcome.

Will Hypnotherapy work for me?
Success is likely as long as your Hypnotherapist utilizes a Client centered approach, and you fully agree to do all of the work that is required.

What does Hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis feels just like the moment when you go to bed at night and you can still hear sounds around you just before you fall asleep. Clients routinely confirm that Hypnosis is a very pleasant, calm and relaxing experience.

Can anyone be hypnotized?
Everyone who is willing to be hypnotized can be hypnotized as long as they are open to being directed, willing to instantly follow instructions and trusting to do exactly as the Hypnotherapist says without judging, analyzing or over evaluating the process.

How will I know if I am hypnotized?
Most people have misconceptions of what Hypnosis is. They think that they have to be zonked out and unconscious in order to be hypnotized, however that is not the case. Hypnotherapy is not possible when you are asleep. You will be very alert and more awake when you are in a state of Hypnosis, able to hear, follow and obey the suggestions of the Hypnotherapist.

So what actually happens when I am hypnotized?
Your eyes will close. Your muscles will relax, and your breathing will slow down. You will experience a light to moderate trance. And as you enter into deeper states of Hypnosis, you will feel a greater sense of peace, tranquility and calmness.

Why is Hypnosis so frequently used?
Hypnosis is the best-known fast acting procedure that allows everyone to directly access their subconscious so they can redirect and modify their own behaviors. Learning how to achieve deeper states, however, requires practice and repetition. When you become more familiar with Hypnosis and are able to achieve deeper states, you will be able to let go of undesired experiences, dissociate from pain and revisit prior memories.

What is the Subconscious?
The Subconscious is a self-preservation mechanism that holds the seat of our emotions and habits in long-term memory. It retains every event that has ever happened in our life's history of existence. The Subconscious acts literally and does not understand humor, sarcasm, innuendo or negation. Capable of multitasking, the Subconscious essentially runs all of our bodily functions. It is the royal gateway to ones inner reality and mindfulness.

Why is the Subconscious so important?
We are driven by our emotions and they are controlled by the Subconscious.

How does Hypnosis help?
Hypnosis used as a therapeutic procedure can redirect our lives. We can acquire mastery of our emotions; for example, control anger and rage, resolve grief and sadness, or eliminate our fears and anxieties. It is possible to develop a positive state of mind, dramatically improve our physical appearance and achieve peak performance skills. By using Hypnosis everyone can enhance alertness, confidence, memory, charisma and stamina. As needed, we can either develop coping mechanisms to deal with our everyday tensions, pain and stress or
choose to delve deeper into our inner core and eliminate all of our cumbersome negative thoughts and undermining destructive energies completely.

Can I achieve quick results with the Hypnotic Process?
As soon as the appropriate healing thoughts delivered through Hypnosis enter your subconscious, the therapeutic benefits of Hypnosis can occur. It all depends upon your ability to turn the key that unlocks the door to your inner world.
